school bus SAFETY
The safety of our children, pedestrians and other vehicles that we share the road with, is of utmost importance to our organization and its members. Our young passengers may not be mature enough to attend to their own safety, so it is up to us to exercise the awareness and common sense necessary to ensure that even the smallest child is protected at all times.
current LEGISLATION
We keep members informed of the latest legislative movements that affect our members and the industry. Laws, regulations, legal requirements and national/state legislation is constantly changing and evolving. We strive to keep the most important of these available for our members to read and share.
Letter from the President
Spring 2022
Dear Members & Prospective Members:
Welcome to Spring! With the warmer weather and a return to an active athletic and trips season, school transportation service providers are ramping up and looking forward to a great end of school year. Despite the school bus driver shortage, rising costs and the difficulty of obtaining needed parts and equipment, many operations are moving towards something of a normal situation.
There have been lessons learned these recent years and one of the major takeaways has been “be prepared for the unexpected”! Challenges that are unforeseen because they have never before existed or because we sometimes lack imagination about the unimaginable have been everyday occurrences. The New Jersey School Bus Contractors Association is here to help.
June 23rd, 2022, we will hold an in-person conference at the Ocean Place in Long Branch, NJ and the general theme of the all-day event will be about managing the risk of operating your school transportation business. Topics presented will include a discussion of operational risks internal to your business as well as effectively managing external influences that could potentially jeopardize the interests of your company, employees or customers. Also included in the day will be an update on the Accreditation project, the current status of electric school buses, on-going resources for Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) and other topical matters of interest to you. There will be a General Members Business Meeting after the educational sessions that all NJSBCA members should attend. Specific details will be sent to NJSBCA members in good standing soon. Please make a plan to attend so you are prepared to make a plan to protect your business!
We have just concluded our membership drive and are pleased to announce we picked up some new members both at the contractor level as well as with our vendor member partners—our association is growing! If you are not a 2022 NJSBCA member, please consider joining this vibrant, actively engaged group of transportation industry professionals.
SUPPORT OUR VENDOR MEMBERS! We restructured our vendor membership to allow our valued business partners to better support the NJSBCA educational and advocacy efforts. We are very appreciative that we had several companies step up as ultimate supporters of the NJSBCA at our gold level. Please support all of our vendors by giving them the first shot at providing goods and services to your business. Check out our revised website www.njschoolbus.com and click on the vendor tab to view the companies that support the NJSBCA and in turn, please support them at every chance you can. The NJSBCA is grateful to all our vendor member companies!
The NJSBCA is making a move in administration of the association! Starting in June, we have engaged Pattie Cowley to do the behind the scenes work that supports the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. This will bring social media and technical organization expertise as well as deeper staffing levels on-board so the NJSBCA can stay on an upward trajectory.
It is an exciting time for the NJSBCA as we accomplished so much, and as we will continue to accomplish so much more while we proudly provide safe and efficient transportation services throughout New Jersey!
